MDRT Foundation Partners with Seva Foundation to Restore Sight and Transform Lives
Through the partnership at the 2025 MDRT Annual Meeting, MDRT members supported Seva’s mission to deliver life-changing surgeries, eyeglasses, and medicine to those in need—especially in regions where access to vision care is limited or nonexistent.
Seva CEO Kate Moynihan shared powerful stories of transformation, including the journey of a mother in rural India who regained her sight after a simple cataract surgery. “The dignity of being able to walk shoulder to shoulder with her son again is something I’ll never forget,” Moynihan said.
Seva’s model emphasizes sustainability and local empowerment. Vision centers are established in underserved areas and become financially self-sustaining within three years. With just $50, a cataract surgery can restore sight, and for $6, a child can be screened for vision issues.
Thanks to the generosity of meeting attendees, the MDRT Foundation awarded USD 275,953 to Seva. This was then matched, dollar-for-dollar, by an anonymous donor of Seva.
This collaboration reflects MDRT Foundation’s ongoing commitment to global philanthropy and the values of generosity and service that define its members.
