Emergency Assistance

Supporting communities affected by catastrophic weather events in 2017.

Recently, our global community has felt the pain of natural disaster and destruction that has not only affected our families and friends, but communities and our global MDRT network. Our hearts go out to those who have withstood hurricanes and earthquakes and to those who struggle to rebuild. The aftermath is something that, as financial professionals, we work so hard to prepare people for. But in the immediate wake of destruction, what do we do? We bring our MDRT network together to help and provide.

We want everyone in these affected areas to not only recover and heal but have a chance to support charities that are contributing to the rebuilding and recovery efforts. To do this, the MDRT Foundation has extended its annual grants deadline to December 31 for members or charities in recent hurricane- and earthquake-affected regions of North and Central America.

Eligibility for this unique, one-time grant opportunity is as follows:

  • Sponsor must be current MDRT member (2017).
  • Sponsor is not required to be a donor to the MDRT Foundation.
  • Charity must be classified as a charitable organization by its local government. Only charities providing relief services to communities affected by recent natural disasters (2017) will be considered for this grant opportunity.  Funding will not be given to individuals or for-profit entities providing relief services.
  • Religious organizations or sectarian causes are ineligible unless the particular program will benefit a large portion of a community without regard to religious affiliation.
  • Members who sponsored a Worldwide grant or Quality of Life grant in 2017 are eligible to sponsor an emergency assistance grant; sponsors of an emergency assistance grant will be eligible to apply for Worldwide or Quality of Life grant in 2018 (for 2019 funding).
  • Members who submitted an application for a Worldwide grant or Quality of Life grant in the current cycle (for 2018 funding) are not eligible to sponsor an emergency assistance grant.

Applications must be submitted with required information by midnight, CST, on December 31, 2017.
