MDRT Foundation Coordinates Industry Tsunami Relief Fund

PARK RIDGE, ILLINOIS (January 12, 2005) – The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Foundation is coordinating a joint industry effort, the MDRT Foundation Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund, to provide assistance to the victims of the devastating earthquake and resulting tsunamis in South Asia and eastern Africa that occurred on December 26, 2004.

The MDRT Foundation has established a $150,000 matching fund for contributions received from MDRT members and non-MDRT members. In addition, the Million Dollar Round Table has contributed $50,000 to the matching fund, bringing the total to $200,000. This matching fund enables individuals to double the amount of their contributions. The MDRT Foundation also will serve as the distribution vehicle for the fund’s contributions, 100 percent of which will directly support the relief efforts.

The MDRT Foundation board of trustees has identified The Salvation Army and the American Red Cross as two of the charities to receive the fund’s proceeds.

“The MDRT Foundation is proud to coordinate this important industry-wide effort,” said 2005 MDRT Foundation President Allan G. Hancock, CLU, ChFC, of Altoona, Pennsylvania. “When tragedy strikes our global family, it is our industry’s responsibility to provide assistance. Together, we can restore hope among those who have lost so much.”
