Alfred
N. Prewitt of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was appointed the 2001
Foundation President. Prewitt, his officers and the MDRT Foundation
board officially took office on September 1, 2000.
Involved with the Foundation since 1959,
Prewitt is its 36th MDRT Foundation President. "I have known and worked
personally with all of the Past Foundation Presidents," said Prewitt.
"Each one had many great ideas that helped build the Foundation to what
it is today. I hope to carry on that legacy, touching as many lives
as possible."
The visibility of the Foundation has
grown significantly throughout the last few years, and Prewitt hopes to
create even more member interest and involvement in the Foundation. "My
goal is to get more members involved," said Prewitt. "It's more than
just giving a one-time pledge. It's the whole giving spirit that I hope
all members will embrace."
Prewitt's focus for the upcoming year
will be to streamline existing programs, finalize the implementation of
the Global Gift Fund™, and increase grant support to causes important to
members.
Prewitt is a 42-year MDRT member and has qualified for the Court of the Table. He is a Silver Knight of the Foundation and has been a Foundation
trustee since 1993. In addition, he has served on MDRT's
Membership Communications Committee, First Time Orientation Task Force
and the Program General Arrangements Task Force.
Prewitt is the owner of Cypress Lakes
Golf Course. He and his son, Tom, also operate Cypress Lakes Stables
where they breed horses for sale, show and trail use. Prewitt also is a
Sunday school teacher for his church, serves on his local YMCA board and
membership drive committee, is president of the Fayetteville Economic
Development Committee and is active in the Rotary club, serving as
president in 1998. In addition, he coached high school basketball for 27
years.
Married to Merle Rainey since 1953, Prewitt
and his wife have three sons Tad, Rob and Tom. "The greatest achievement
in my whole life is that my three sons have never embarrassed me or
given me heartache."
