Allen
R. Bruce, CLU, ChFC, of Silver Spring, Maryland, has been appointed
the 2002 MDRT Foundation President.

his officers, and the MDRT Foundation Board of Trustees, officially
took office September 1, 2001.
"I
look forward to the honor of continuing the Foundation's remarkable
programs that my predecessors have successfully laid the ground work
for. I don't really see this as 'my presidential year.' It's a team
approach and I am just the captain of the Foundation Board Executive
team," he said. "The Foundation Board agreed it's important
to work as a team to provide continuity of programs in a sustained,
steady approach in order to grow the Foundation in the most effective
way."
Particularly,
Bruce said, "We want to continue to focus on the Excalibur Society
and the Inner Circle Society, which are designed to accommodate those
members who wish to make significant annual gifts. Secondly, we will
explore every avenue in making it advantageous for members outside of
North America to make contributions to the MDRT Foundation."
Bruce
is the 36th MDRT Foundation President and is a 25-year member of MDRT,
with three Court of the Table qualifications. A Foundation Diamond Knight
and founding member of the Inner Circle Society, he has been a Foundation
Trustee since 1997. In addition to serving as a member of numerous MDRT
committees, Bruce previously served as the Communications Divisional
Vice President (DVP), the Membership Services DVP, the Public Relations
Committee Chair and the Constitution & Bylaws Committee Chair. With
the Foundation, he is currently serving as Chair of the Major &
Corporate Giving Committee and previously served as the Quality of Life
Grants Committee Chair.
Heavily
involved in the industry, Bruce served as president of the Washington,
D.C., Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the vice chairman
of the association committee with the National Association of Insurance
and Financial Advisors, is a founding chairman of the African American
Advisory Committee of the American College and serves as Secretary on
the board of PLI Financial Services, Inc., a national African-American
owned insurance and financial services organization.
In
1996, he was presented with the Washington, D.C., Association of Insurance
and Financial Advisors highest award, the Bernard L. Wilner Memorial
Award, for a lifetime contribution to the industry and his community.
Also, he was honored in 1995 with the W. Elwood Baker Award, presented
by the Greater Washington, D.C., chapter of SFSP for his contribution
to the enhancement of education of the financial services field.
He
