Allan HancockThirty-two-year MDRT member Allan G. Hancock, CLU, ChFC, of Altoona, Pennsylvania, has been elected the 2005 MDRT Foundation President.

Hancock is a community and industry leader. From 1980 to 1983, he served as mayor of Altoona, and, in 1995, he served as president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).
Hancock, his officers and the MDRT Foundation Board of Trustees officially took office September 1, 2004.

As Foundation President, Hancock’s focus will be strengthening existing MDRT Foundation programs, creating hands-on volunteer opportunities for members and increasing the Foundation’s grant outreach.

In 1960, Hancock started his career in financial services, and, in 1963, he established his first office. He formed Hancock Associates Inc. in 1983 to provide employee benefits to companies. Since then, he has established four more companies and offers fee-based asset allocation and wealth management services, utilizing unique and modern investment theories; college preparation services, assisting students and their families with comprehensive college and career planning; and a property and casualty division. Collectively, these companies are known as The Hancock Group Inc. and make the business a full-service operation.

Hancock is the 39th MDRT Foundation President. In addition to his 32 years of MDRT membership, Hancock has 13 Court of the Table honors and has spoken at the MDRT Annual Meeting three times — in 1983, 1995 and 2003.

A Foundation Trustee since 2001, he is a Diamond Knight and was a 2002 and 2003 Inner Circle Society patron. His other Foundation contributions include Phonathons and participating in two of the Foundation’s playground builds with Kids Around the World. His Foundation committee work includes helping start the MDRT Foundation’s Global Gift Fund program, where he served as Chair of the committee from 1999 to 2002. Today, he is a participant in the donor-advised fund program with his own family foundation.
Furthermore, Hancock is a past president of the Pennsylvania AIFA and the Altoona Area AIFA. He serves on the Board of Trustees of LUTC and The American College. He also is a member of the American College’s Golden Key Society. He served as treasurer of LIFE (the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education), and he served on the Pennsylvania Insurance Test Development Committee, and testified before the State Banking Committee on the issue of banks and insurance.

The Hancock Group Inc. has received numerous awards, including the Professional Growth Award from The American College and the Excellence in Small Business Award presented by the Altoona-Blair Chamber of Commerce.

Hancock has been named one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People” in a 14-county region located in central Pennsylvania for the past two consecutive years. In 2002, he received the Blair County Community Endowment Fellow Award, and he was chosen out of 16 counties to receive the Entrepreneur 2002 Business Award from the Pennsylvania Business Central. In 2001, he received the Small Business Person of the Year Award from the Small Business Development Center and the Center for Global Competitiveness.
