George Receives Quality of Life Grant

Park Ridge, Illinois (July 9, 2002) — Carter A. George, CLU, ChFC, of Fruit Heights, Utah, had the prestigious honor of being awarded the top Quality of Life Grant Award by the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Foundation for outstanding community service.

George, of Alexander Hamilton Life and a 21-year MDRT member, accepted the $20,000 grant on behalf of Enable Industries Inc., a non-profit organization that strives to improve the economic and social independence of people with disabilities through programs that teach independent life skills. George, this year's top award winner, is an active volunteer for Enable Industries Inc., which will receive grant funding from the MDRT Foundation in honor of George's volunteer efforts for the organization.

Originally, the MDRT Foundation Quality of Life Award to Enable Industries was in the amount of $10,000. After hearing about the award, Beneficial Life Insurance Co., which George has worked with since 1973, matched the MDRT Quality of Life Award grant in the amount of $10,000. This match allowed Enable Industries to receive a combined grant totaling $20,000.

Each year, the MDRT Foundation Quality of Life program recognizes outstanding volunteerism and leadership by MDRT members. In honor of their commitment, the Foundation makes donations to MDRT members' designated charities in increments of $2,500 (maximum of 40 gifts awarded), $5,000 (5 gifts awarded) and $10,000 (1 gift awarded).

This year, under the Quality of Life program, a total of $72,500 was donated by the MDRT Foundation to 21 individual charities in the name of 21 MDRT member volunteers. The grants were presented by 2002 MDRT Foundation Grants Committee Chairman, James V. Durkin, CFP, CLU of Gaithersburg, Maryland, at the Annual Meeting of the MDRT membership held in Nashville, Tennessee, June 23-26, 2002. Over 6,000 members were in attendance at the meeting.
