MDRT Foundation Establishes MDRT Disaster Relief Fund

PARK RIDGE, ILLINOIS (October 8, 2001) — The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Foundation has established the MDRT Disaster Relief Fund to provide aid to those affected by the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

"The entire MDRT family extends their heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the victims of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, their families, loved ones and friends," said MDRT Foundation President Allen R. Bruce, CLU, ChFC, of Silver Spring, Maryland. "In difficult times such as these, the professional services of MDRT members are essential and invaluable in the survival and healing of families and businesses."

To contribute to the heroic efforts now underway and to provide relief to those directly affected in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., the MDRT Foundation established the MDRT Disaster Relief Fund. Through this fund, MDRT members, Round Table staff, life insurance companies, financial service professionals and friends of the industry, can contribute funds that will be applied directly to a variety of organizations that will support the relief efforts in New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania. The MDRT Foundation then will match, dollar for dollar, the cumulative contribution up to a total of $100,000.

People can support the MDRT Disaster Relief effort by sending a check or money order payable to the MDRT Disaster Relief Fund, 325 West Touhy Avenue, Park Ridge, Illinois 60068 USA. Or, they may contribute by credit card by going to the MDRT Web site at www.mdrt.org or by calling (847) 692-6378.

The MDRT Foundation was created in 1959 to provide Round Table members with a means to give back to their communities. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated more than $8 million to more than 1,000 worthy charities around the world. The majority of these funds were raised by MDRT members from MDRT members. Some of the organizations that have benefited from MDRT Foundation grants are: Make-a-Wish Foundation, UNICEF and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

MDRT is an international, independent association of nearly 25,000 of the world's best life insurance and financial services professionals from 66 nations and territories. MDRT members demonstrate exceptional product knowledge, strict ethical conduct and outstanding client service.
