Farm Family Life Sponsors MDRT Phonathon

PARK RIDGE, ILLINOIS (December 10, 2001) — Farm Family Life sponsored the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Foundation Fall Phonathon on October 22 and October 23, 2001, at Farm Family's home office in Albany, New York.

Thirty MDRT member volunteers raised over $135,000 in first-year commitments from fellow Round Table members, including over $43,000 designated for the MDRT Foundation Disaster Relief Fund. Volunteers came from across the United States to participate in the event.

Sponsoring the event, Farm Family provided the use of its facilities and telephones. Farm Family CEO Philip P. Weber also is currently serving a three-year term on the MDRT Foundation Board of Trustees. "The MDRT Foundation is extremely grateful to Farm Family and Philip Weber for sponsoring and hosting our Fall Phonathon," said MDRT Foundation President Allen R. Bruce, CLU, ChFC, of Silver Spring, Maryland. "Thanks to the support of generous companies like Farm Family, the MDRT Foundation is able to continue its mission of making a difference in the lives of so many people around the world."

Each year, the MDRT Foundation conducts two insurance-company sponsored Phonathons staffed by volunteer Foundation Knights. This partnership provides the Foundation a cost-effective way of raising the funds needed to provide support for needy organizations worldwide. Started in the 1970s, MDRT Foundation Phonathons continue to serve as the primary source of funding for the organization's grant programs.

The MDRT Foundation was created in 1959 to provide Round Table members means of giving back to their communities. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated in excess of $9 million to more than 1,300 worthy charities around the world. The majority of these funds were raised by MDRT members from MDRT members. Some of the organizations that have benefited from MDRT Foundation grants are: Make-a-Wish Foundation, UNICEF and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
