Newsroom Farm Family CEO Announced as Circle of Life Award Recipient
Park Ridge, Illinois (July 23, 2002) Philip P. Weber of Albany, New York, president and chief executive officer of Farm Family Life Insurance Company, was announced as the 2003 Circle of Life Award honoree by the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Foundation Board of Trustees during the 2002 MDRT Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center June 23-26, 2002. Weber will be honored at a gala on Friday, January 17, 2003, in Albany, New York. Proceeds from the event will benefit both the MDRT Foundation and a charity designated by Weber. Begun in 1999, the Circle of Life Award honors those who possess the characteristics that the MDRT Foundation has long held in high regard: a generous nature, a charitable spirit, strong community involvement and industry leadership. Specifically, the award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the life insurance industry, their communities, and to the MDRT Foundation. “Phil Weber truly exemplifies all that the Circle of Life Award stands for,” said 2002 MDRT Foundation President Allen R. Bruce, CLU, ChFC, of Silver Spring, Maryland. “His community and industry leadership, as well as his generous contributions to the MDRT Foundation, make Phil Weber the ideal recipient for the Circle of Life Award. Having him as our 2003 recipient is an honor for us all.” Weber joined Farm Family in 1978, and has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Farm Family Holdings, Inc., Farm Family Casualty Insurance Company, Farm Family Life Insurance Company, and United Farm Family Insurance Company since 1996. During his more than 24-year career with Farm Family, Weber has held many different positions, including those with the Life and Casualty Companies and those as an agent and agency manager. Weber is serving on the MDRT Foundation’s Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2003 and as a Gold Knight level sponsor of the MDRT Foundation, he is a generous financial contributor to the Foundation. His MDRT Foundation committee history includes serving as a member of the 2001 Finance and Investment Committee, a member-at-large of the 2002 Special Projects Committee and the Vice Chair of the 2002 Golf Tournament Committee. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Weber graduated from Biscayne College in Florida in 1970. Weber taught school in Hudson, New York, for eight years before entering the insurance business. He and his wife, Brenda, are the parents of Philip, Jr., now 6 years old. Weber’s two older daughters, Rachael and Michelle, reside in the greater Albany area with their families. Weber is also grandfather to Rachael’s one-year old son, Nick.
