East Liverpool YMCA Receives
$50,000 Grant from MDRT Foundation

The East Liverpool Area Family YMCA received a $50,000 USD grant from the MDRT Foundation during the 2004 Circle of Life Award Gala held March 27, 2004 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Marvin H. Feldman, CLU, ChFC, who was being honored at the event, recommended the organization in honor of its commitment to serving families and revitalizing the community.

Construction of the pool at the new facility

Feldman first came into contact with the East Liverpool Area Family YMCA through their "Making a World of Difference Campaign." After many years of service, the facilities that comprise the YMCA were overextended and in serious need of renovation. The goal of the capital campaign was to increase access to and improve the quality of its services through the renovation of existing facilities and the construction of a new facility in the Calcutta area of town. Feldman toured the Calcutta facility when it opened last fall and was so impressed that he wanted the YMCA above all other organizations to benefit from the gala being held in his honor.

"This organization had the most impact on families, family time and family values that I felt were so important throughout my career," said Feldman.

The improvements have already made an impact that is felt by the entire community. The new facility is in a strip mall that used to be deserted. Now it's filled with the cars of families who are using the most modern features for health and sports in the area.

The YMCA is a membership organization open to all, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for those in need. Through its programs, services and leadership, the YMCA promotes ethical values that contribute to its members' growth in building healthy spirits, minds and bodies. The next step of their campaign is a joint effort with Kent State University to transform an old gymnasium into a new, state-of-the-art fitness center.
