Newsroom MDRT Foundation Gives Grant to Park Ridge-Based The Harbour
PARK RIDGE, ILLINOIS (February 9, 2007) – The MDRT Foundation awarded a $1,400 grant to Park Ridge-based the Harbour, as part of the MDRT Foundation’s Corporate Citizen Grant program. MDRT presented the grant to the Harbour at their offices in Park Ridge on Wednesday, January 24. “MDRT applauds the tremendous work being done by the Harbour,” said Nick M. Falco, CAE, CFRE, the MDRT’s Foundation’s Executive Director. “Our Foundation is proud to give back to the community and be associated with such a worthwhile cause.” The MDRT Foundation’s Corporate Citizen Grant Program provides support to community charities local to the MDRT headquarters. The grant funds were raised by MDRT staff through their employee holiday luncheon raffle and matched by the MDRT Foundation. Local businesses, including Nika Le Butik, Al’s Italian Beef, LePeep, Original Pancake House, Hill’s Hallmark, Camp Willow, Hay Caramba, Pickwick Theater, Charcoal Grill and Pizzeria, Bailey’s, Caruden Hair Design, Marriott and United Airlines all donated raffle prizes. The Harbour advocates for and provides services to youth, in order to enhance safety and stability, nurture personal growth and promote the development of healthy relationships with their family and others. The Harbour fulfills its mission by providing emergency shelter and transitional housing for homeless, runaway, abused and neglected girls in the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago. “The Harbour offers youth a safe place for a night, and services designed to prepare them to become healthy, self-sufficient adults,” said Randi M. Gurian, LCSW, executive director of the Harbour Inc. “The funding provided by the Million Dollar Round Table helps to ensure that no youth in our community will be turned away from needed services.” The MDRT Foundation’s Corporate Citizen Grant Program formally began in 1999. Since then, the MDRT Foundation has established an annual budget to fund charities local to MDRT’s headquarters that exhibit corporate responsibility and the civic-mindedness of MDRT. Past grant recipients include the Center for Concern, Avenues to Independence, and the Park Ridge Juniors benefit for Lutheran General Hospital’s Emergency/Trauma Center and the First Step Foundation. |
