Newsroom CHILDREN AND TERMINALLY ILL IN SINGAPORE RECEIVE GRANTS 2003 MDRT President Richard H. Sullenger presented two grants from the MDRT Foundation at the 7th Asia Pacific Life Insurance Council (APLIC) Congress, held February 20–22 in Singapore. Member countries of this council include Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. DOVER PARK HOSPICE (DPH), based in Singapore, is the recipient of a grant for $2,500. DPH improves the quality of life for those with advanced disease and provides a place for the terminally ill to die with comfort and dignity. The DPH Mandarin Group, a special group of DPH professionals and volunteers, was awarded the President’s Social Service Award in 2002. This highly prestigious award is conferred by the office of the President of the Republic of Singapore in recognition of a superior commitment to social service. Another grant recipient for $2,500 is the KK OUTREACH TO KIDS FUND, a humanitarian effort of the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore. These monies will alleviate the financial burden of families who are caring for a very sick child. Financial assistance will be provided to cover the large, but much needed, expense of treating a little one with serious conditions such as cancer, HIV/AIDS or premature birth. KKH is a leader in children’s health care and is the largest medical facility in the country that specializes in neonatology and pediatrics. These grants made
