August’s Charity of the Month: Furniture Mission of South Dakota

Each week, Stan E. Graber, CLU, LUTCF drives a delivery truck loaded with gently-used furniture, which is donated to low-income families throughout Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Graber not only delivers this much-needed furniture, but is also happy to help set up the furniture for families who otherwise often go without having even a bed to sleep on.

Baby's crib The MDRT Foundation awarded Graber, a five-year MDRT member of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, $2,500 grant in honor of his dedication to the Furniture Mission of South Dakota Inc., a nonprofit organization that distributes furniture at no charge to people in need. This grant will be used to supply beds and new bedding for children and infants of low-income families.

“Stan is a person of integrity…and an outstanding contributor to any project in which he is involved,” explained Marcia Van Ginkel, director of Furniture Mission. “He is committed to enhancing the quality of life for those less fortunate, particularly children and infants throughout Sioux Falls.”

The Furniture Mission relies on the dedication of selfless volunteers who completely staff all aspects of the organization’s furniture donation and delivery operation. Last year alone, they served 1,620 families and more than 3,000 children and infants.
