Annual Meeting Inspires Altruism through MDRT Partnership with Soles4Souls, International Shoe Charity

Park Ridge, Ill. (May 12, 2011) – Imagine the struggle of never owning a pair of shoes. During their Annual Meeting June 5-8 in Atlanta, Ga., members of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) will band together to make a difference worldwide by donating shoes to Soles4Souls, an international charitable organization that provides gently used and new shoes for children and individuals in need throughout the United States and worldwide.

MDRT and the MDRT Foundation are asking attending members to demonstrate their support for this program by participating in the shoe drive with a donation – either a pair of shoes or a monetary contribution to the MDRT Foundation.

“The Annual Meeting provides the ideal opportunity to generate awareness for the great work that Soles4Souls does. Worldwide, 1.5 billion people do not own a pair of shoes, and MDRT members are determined to help in a big way,” said MDRT President Julian H. Good, Jr., CLU, ChFC. “By donating a pair of shoes, MDRT members will help Soles4Souls meet its goal to ‘transform 11 million lives in 2011’ while shedding light on something we take for granted – shoes to walk in.”

A new pair of shoes can truly change a life, offering hope and opportunity for those who need it most. Without shoes, infections are more easily transmitted, individuals endure tremendous discomfort and opportunities for betterment are restricted. In addition, many children in the developing world cannot attend school without a pair of shoes. Soles4Souls collects shoes for those in need, regardless of race, religion, class or any other criteria.

“The generosity and involvement of MDRT members will benefit people who need our assistance around the world,” said Wayne Elsey, Soles4Souls founder and CEO.

Through the Annual Meeting and this exciting collaboration with Soles4Souls, MDRT members can build upon past efforts like last year’s Million Meal Challenge and continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

“Soles4Souls embodies the MDRT Foundation’s mission of changing lives worldwide, our efforts will provide shoes and hope to countless children and families in need,”
