Read about the Foundation's grant programs United Cerebral Palsy of Southern Maryland Receives $5,000 Grant On April 21, 2005, Walton W. Rogers, CLU, ChFC, Diamond Knight and 31-year MDRT member from Annapolis, Maryland, presented a $5,000 grant to United Cerebral Palsy of Southern Maryland (UCPSM) on behalf of the MDRT Foundation. This grant will be used to fund the Healing Wheels transportation program, which recently purchased a handicapped accessible van to transport disabled children throughout the community.
According to a parent of a child that UCPSM serves: “UCPSM has given my child the ability to express more freedom. With this transportation program, she is able to do activities with other individuals with the same disabilities that she wouldn’t normally do. She looks forward to getting picked up every day, and she enjoys the time she spends at UCPSM.” The Healing Wheels program serves a four county area of southern Maryland. UCPSM was founded in 1978 to provide advocacy and direct service programs to support employment, community living arrangements and individual and family support services for individuals living with cerebral palsy. |
